Roald Dahl Story Day

On Monday, our junior girls celebrated a ‘gloriumptious’ Roald Dahl Story Day with many girls choosing to wear or bring in Dahl-themed accessories including hats, golden tickets, homemade ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ potions and of course their favourite Roald Dahl books.

Year 1 read The Enormous Crocodile, shared their thoughts and wrote sentences about the crocodile. Year 2 imagined what they would do if the finger from The Magic Finger turned to them, then they wrote about what they would do if they grew wings. Year 3 shared some ‘phiz whizzing’ facts about Roald Dahl including a quiz. They also read an extract of The Twits and wrote descriptions of Mr and Mrs Twit. Year 4 girls enjoyed a game where they guessed which Roald Dahl accessories matched the books and were pleasingly no longer ‘biffsquiggled’ (confused or puzzled). Year 5 discussed the ‘interesting’ character traits of Fantastic Mr Fox and Year 6 read extracts from Roald Dahl’s autobiographical novel ‘Boy’ and then discussed their own early memories of school.

Roald Dahl jokes and stories were shared at the end of a ‘whoopsy whiffling’ (great!) day.
