Year 5 MasterChef

Year 5 had a cookery competition last term. The idea was suggested by Naiha D who, together with some help from Anna A, organised 4 rounds of the competition.

The first round was fruit salads, the second was cup cakes, the third was cookies and the final was celebration cakes. Photographs of the winning entry for each round  can be found below.

For the final round- I asked TV chef Adam Handling to taste and judge. He has been on Celebrity Masterchef and Saturday Morning Kitchen as well as being British Chef of the Year three years running. He was on Masterchef on Bank Holiday Monday as a judge and is cooking for the G7 Summit because of his belief in sustainability. Adam was “blown away” by Naiha’s presenting talents and was hugely impressed by the girls’ culinary skills.  I took the celebration cakes to him for judging and he arranged for this to be filmed so that the girls could see the judging. He chose the winner and then on the last morning of term did a live Google Meet Q & A session with the girls. Adam chose Annabella P’s cake as the winning cake whilst Leah C was the overall winner.
