2019 PTA Golf Event

On Friday 7th June, parents, grandparents, staff, GDST representatives and friends of Croydon High braved the inclement weather to take part in the annual PTA Golf day in at the De Vere Selsdon Park Hotel.

This year saw another keenly fought contest, particularly in the ladies’ competition where they sat for what seemed like an eternity at the bar, poring over their scorecard before finally submitting it (that’s what they claimed they were doing in there anyway…!). It was eventually determined that Mrs Beck had once again won the ladies’ individual competition, this year by a single point (she always manages to just do enough!), while in the men’s event just one point separated the top 3, with Deryck Silk, from the GDST, taking home the trophy.

The inaugural team competition was very fittingly (and rather comfortably) won by the ladies’ team captained by Mrs Beck, a full five shots clear of their nearest rivals.

2019 Winners:

Ladies’ Competition:

Mrs Beck (5th year running!)

Men’s Competition:

Deryck Silk (GDST)

Team Competition: Mrs Beck, Katie Thomas, Julie Holmes, Kate Haden-Scott (Alumna and former parent)

Nearest the Pin: Kate Haden-Scott

Longest Drive: Andrew Bloomfield

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped raise £646 for the PTA which will go towards purchasing educational ‘tech toys’ for the girls.

We look forward to seeing you at the next PTA Golf Day booked for  Friday 5th June 2020.
