Shine Graduation

The SHINE programme, Fun on Saturdays, has run for nine weeks over the last term. 30 students in Year 5 from three local primary schools were selected to attend ten sessions at Croydon High School on Saturday mornings in January, February and March. The purpose of the programme was to provide academic enrichment in the form of a variety of fun and stimulating sessions; it was run by a number of staff across the Junior and Senior schools. A number of girls from the Lower Sixth also very kindly volunteered their time at the sessions each week. The programme has been an incredible success, and the School hosted a celebration event to mark its conclusion on Tuesday 2nd April. The majority of participants were able to attend to celebrate with staff and our Lower Sixth volunteers, and all were presented with a certificate to mark their achievement throughout the programme. A video marking some of the highlights of the programme was also shown, which will shortly be available to view on the school’s website. We look forward to continuing our close collaborative relationship with Rowdown, Fairchildes and Applegarth Primary Schools over the coming months and years, and very much look forward to welcoming another talented set of Year 5 students to the programme in January 2020.
