Nepal Trip Workshop

On Wednesday 16th January the 26 students going on an expedition to Nepal in October 2019 attended a Global Learning Workshop run by Rosie Barrett from Global Action. The meeting was a great way to learn more about the fascinating country of Nepal; the focus was on issues faced by the communities we will be visiting as well as broader development issues facing the region and entire country. Initially we were taught some interesting and unique facts about Nepal, for example the level of development in Nepal and the differences between regions. We gained a greater understanding of Nepal’s economy, people and landscape. We divided into groups to identify causes and solutions to some serious world problems such as poverty and climate change. These issues were based on the millennium development goals identified by the UN (https://www.un.org/millenniumgoals/). This helped us think about the type of community development or terrestrial conservation projects we would be involved with.  Overall, the workshop was very successful and the students picked up a lot of useful information in a limited time. We are excited about this fantastic expedition and the experience we will have.
