Charity Golf Day

Wednesday 7th October 2020 saw the inaugural Charity Golf Day at De Vere Selsdon Estate & Golf Club in aid of The Rowdown Inspire to Aspire Foundation.

36 keen and enthusiastic golfers turned up ready to take on the outstanding course on a beautifully sunny day. Gary Coy from The Rowdown Foundation gave a brief introduction, explaining the fantastic work they do inspiring New Addington children to aspire to something big, something extra, and to support them. Before the start, Mrs Pattison clarified the format each player needed to follow.

Groups went out at regular intervals – lots of laughter and shouts of ‘fore’ were heard around the course throughout the day. Some decided to visit other fairways, I think to say hello, and some wanted extra practice in bunkers!

I welcomed the groups back and it was so lovely to hear how much everyone had thoroughly enjoyed their round. Up until the final groups coming in, our very own Erin was winning the Nearest the Pin in 2 competition. It was great to have her play and represent the school.

I am delighted to announce that together we raised over £1,200. My sincere thanks go to all those who played and supported the event – it was delightful to have parents past and present playing, friends and local supporters, the De Vere Selsdon Estate & Golf Club staff, and particularly Caroline Screene, whose support, experience and enthusiasm was invaluable.

Next year’s Charity Golf Day will be held on Wednesday 29th September 2021; please put the date in your diary and keep an eye out for details during the summer term.

Many congratulations to all our winners!
