Professor Abigail Rokison-Woodall began her career as a professional actor, training at LAMDA and appearing in classical theatre and television, including as Primrose Larkin in The Darling Buds of May.
She later earned a PhD in Shakespearean Verse Speaking from Cambridge and is now Professor of Shakespeare and Theatre at the University of Birmingham’s Shakespeare Institute. Her award-winning scholarship includes Shakespearean Verse Speaking and several other monographs. Abigail co-leads the Arden Shakespeare Performance Editions and champions inclusive education through her ‘Signing Shakespeare’ project for Deaf students. She recently directed Edward II and Massacre at Paris for The Marlowe Sessions, blending scholarship with performance innovation.
We are incredibly proud to include Abigail on our Wall of Women. From the stage to the Professor’s chair, Abigail’s journey is a brilliant reminder to our pupils that a Croydon High foundation provides the stage for a lifetime of constant evolution and achievement.
