We were very excited to welcome bestselling author, Ravena Guron, to Croydon High on Monday morning and her visit did not disappoint. The LRC was busy with murder mystery fans at break time, who came to meet Ravena and have their copies of her brand new book Your Murder Next signed.
Ravena then gave an author talk to Year 8, where she talked about her journey to becoming a bestselling author, via a degree in Biochemistry and a career as a lawyer. She spoke honestly and insightfully about her experiences and the choices she made and how a focus on doing what she enjoyed has led her to her current success.
She demonstrated the importance of resilience and an incredible work ethic by sharing details of her writing process, and explaining how a first draft is only the very beginning of the work it takes to produce a published novel.
Ravena also spoke of her admiration for Agatha Christie’s novels and the inspiration she took from the master of crime writing.
The morning finished with a Q&A session where the Year 8 pupils asked considered and intelligent questions, showing how well they had engaged with Ravena’s talk.
It was a truly inspirational morning, thank you Ravena!
