Entry at Year 9
Entry at Year 9
Why Join Croydon High in Year 9?
Year 9 is a pivotal time for girls, and Croydon High offers the perfect environment for them to thrive.
Many girls join us from Prep schools, arriving as confident, academically capable young women ready to embrace fresh challenges. Others transition from independent or maintained schools, drawn by our focus on tailored learning, exceptional pastoral care, and an extensive co-curricular programme.
At this stage, some girls seek greater academic stretch, while others are inspired by our vibrant, supportive community and opportunities to grow both personally and socially.
We provide tailored guidance as they make crucial GCSE option choices, ensuring they are fully prepared for Key Stage 4. With a welcoming atmosphere and a clear focus on nurturing each individual.

Applicants will be tested using an adaptive online test, completed on the day. Adaptive means it responds to their answers and gets harder each time they get a question right so each experience is personalised and unique. This test is designed to assess ability in skills such as numeracy, problem solving and vocabulary. There is no special preparation required and no practice papers are available. In addition, they will be asked to complete a creative writing task.
-
This will be awarded to applicants from external schools who apply for academic scholarship and assessment in: Art & Design, Music, Drama or Sport. Roles and Responsibilities pertaining to this award and further details will be sent on application.
