At 13+ (Year 9), sports scholarships may be awarded (as part of the Academic Plus Year 9 Scholarship Award) to girls who demonstrate significant strength in the sports offered at Croydon High School or are judged as outstanding “all-rounders” in sport. Sports scholars must pass the school’s entrance examination.

Croydon High School has an excellent record of attainment in sport at the highest levels. The school has outstanding facilities, including a purpose-built gymnasium, sports hall, 25-metre swimming pool, eight tennis courts, a floodlit all-weather pitch, and ample space in our 20-acre grounds for athletics and games. Additionally, there is a dance studio, fitness room, six netball courts (three of which have floodlights), and newly installed cricket nets in the sports hall.

We are very proud at Croydon High School to offer a wide variety of activities and coaching to all girls, from elite sportswomen to those who just want to enjoy physical activity and widen their recreational opportunities. The school enjoys a national reputation for its high standard of sport, with major titles gained in various activities. Successful tours have been organized both in the UK and abroad, including Condover Hall, South Africa, Barbados, and Spain.

All girls interested in the scholarship must indicate this on registration. Scholarship application forms can be downloaded from the website or requested from the Admissions Registrar. Candidates whose applications show outstanding achievement and potential will be shortlisted to attend an assessment at the school, which will include a variety of physical tasks. Please bring kit and equipment for your areas of strength. Applications must be made by 12 December 2025. The sports assessments will take place on 5 February 2026.

The girls will showcase netball, hockey, athletics, and swimming, with opportunities to demonstrate skills in cricket, football, gymnastics, dance, and tennis if these are their areas of strength.
