Drama Scholarship Information (Year 7: 2026)

At 11+ (Year 7), Drama scholarships may be awarded to girls showing outstanding ability and potential. Drama scholars must pass the school’s entrance exam. Subject to a means-test, it is possible for a scholarship to be combined with a bursary from the Girls’ Day School Trust.

Applicants must indicate interest on registration and provide supporting documents (certificates, awards, reference from a Drama club). Applications are shortlisted, with selected candidates invited to a drama workshop and audition in Nov/Dec 2025.

Audition Requirements:

  • Perform a speech from any published play (1-2 minutes).
  • Focus on character creation, mood, and atmosphere.
  • Followed by a short interview discussing the play and character.

Application Deadline: 17 October 2025
Drama assessments: Week commencing 24 November 2025.


Drama Scholarship Roles and Responsibilities:

Key Stage 3 and 4:

  • Active participation in curricular and co-curricular Drama.
  • Expected to take part in school productions and Drama presentations.
  • Encouraged to take GCSE Drama in Year 10.

Key Stage 5:

  • Leadership roles in Drama, participation in productions (acting or stage management).
  • Assist in school events and encourage younger students.
  • Encouraged to take A-level Drama.
