Academic Plus Scholarship – Year 9

Entrance tests will take place on Thursday 5 February 2026 for applicants for Year 9 entry in September 2026.

There will be a Year 9 Academic Plus Scholarship award for up to two applicants from external schools who apply for academic scholarship and assessment in either Art & Design, Music, Drama or Sport.

All applicants for Year 9 will sit an Entrance Test in English, Mathematics, Non-Verbal Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning and will spend the remainder of the day at school to get a real feel for life at Croydon High School.

Academic Plus scholarship candidates will have an interview and assessment which will be arranged individually.

• Music candidates should be at a good Grade 6 standard on at least one orchestral instrument and should be prepared to play two short contrasting pieces at audition. If an accompaniment is required, it should be sent in with the application.
• Drama candidates will need to prepare a dramatic monologue of their choice lasting approximately two minutes.
• Sports candidates need to show outstanding achievement and potential to be shortlisted for a sports assessment.
• Art and Design candidates should present a portfolio including a sketchbook and five pieces of work. They will have a sketching assessment.
