High Aspirations deliver Inspiring Outcomes for Croydon High’s A Level Class of 2024
Croydon High is very proud to announce an outstanding achievement for the Class of 2024. This year almost 20% of all grades awarded were at the highly aspirational A* which is testament to the hard work and determination of the pupils.
With 47% of all grades at A*-A and an impressive 83% at A*-B, it is clear that this year’s cohort set their sights high and delivered.*
88% of all pupils have been offered their first choice of university destination with 97% achieving their firm or insurance offers.
This multi-talented cohort have also demonstrated their strong diversity of interests in the degree subjects they have chosen to pursue. Aspiring medics, lawyers and architects are taking their next steps, alongside those choosing to specialise in History, English, Mathematics, Economics and Business as well as (still) male-dominated subjects such as Computer Science, and Politics.
Croydon High’s Head, Annabel Davies was clearly delighted to celebrate the achievements of this particular cohort, saying:
“It is an absolute pleasure to be able to publicly recognise the hard work and commitment of this year group. I have been privileged to see them grow in both confidence and ambition over the course of the last two years and I know the amount of hard work and dedication it takes to achieve the results that we are celebrating today.
Academics aside, I am equally proud of the character traits these pupils have exhibited as leaders of the student body; they have truly been – and will continue to be – outstanding role models for our younger pupils. The essential skills they have developed alongside their academic studies will be what will make them stand out and we are immensely proud of them all.”
Deputy Head (Academic) Ben Rew agreed saying,
“Seeing these excellent results in the context of the many other achievements credited to this cohort, across the full curricular and co-curricular programme, makes us entirely confident that the Class of 2024 will go on to be outstanding contributors in whichever area they move into.”
Eloise is someone who has very successfully combined academics with school responsibilities and co-curricular commitments. As one of the school’s Head Girls, Eloise demonstrated great leadership and a strong work ethic which has certainly reaped rewards. Eloise is celebrating straight A* grades in History, Psychology and PE and an A* EPQ, and is heading to the University of Birmingham to read Psychology and we know she will continue to excel.
Sophia’s passion for Psychology was underlined by her A* in that subject, as well as an A* in Biology, A in Religious Studies and B in Music has secured her place at the University of Leeds to study Psychology. Taking four A Level subjects requires true dedication and Sophia balanced her commitment to her academic studies and her co-curricular interests magnificently. Congratulations, Sophia.
Chloe will be studying Law at the University of Leeds and she will be heading there armed with the knowledge that she has already achieved excellence. Huge congratulations to Chloe on her A* grades in Biology and Psychology along with an A in Politics and an A* EPQ.
Aspiring Drama student, Emily has certainly put herself in the spotlight as she heads to the University of Manchester, with A* grades in Psychology and Sociology and an A in Drama. Well done, Emily – we look forward to seeing you continue to light up the stage.
Anya’s A grades in Biology, Chemistry and Geography represents her passport to the realisation of her dream to study Medicine, which she will do at Kent and Medway Medical School. Congratulations Anya – a wonderful achievement!
Joining a new school for Sixth Form might bring challenges for some, but Jessica responded brilliantly to the aspirational and welcoming environment of Croydon High’s Sixth Form and has achieved outstanding results. An A* in Sociology, and A grades in both History and Psychology and an A in her EPQ, means Jess is heading to Exeter University to study History, with a year studying abroad, taking with her all our congratulations and best wishes.
Since her days in our Junior School, Jemima has been recognised for her natural talents in both Art and Sport, and she has continued to commit to both those passions throughout her Croydon High journey. Ultimately, it is Art that has influenced her choice of next steps and the school was extremely proud to report she had received an unconditional offer to study Architecture – most unusual in this most competitive of courses. Jemima is going west, to the University of Plymouth, where no doubt she will keep up her sporting pursuits whilst also building her architectural ambitions.
Annabel Davies remarked
“These headlines are just a snapshot of some of the many inspiring individual journeys that are being celebrated by the school today. Every pupil has their own story and each one has faced different challenges. I am so proud of them all. We will always remember the fantastic spirit of camaraderie, mutual support and encouragement that they have always shown each other. I also want to pay tribute to the incredible efforts and dedication of our teaching staff who embody Croydon High’s vision; enabling aspiration without limits and inspiration, for every girl, every day.”
