Off by Heart Competition 2022

For the first time, the finalists of this year’s Off By Heart Competition were able to perform in our new Holt Hall before a small but excited audience of parents and friends.

The adjudicator, Croydon High alumna Mrs Claire Gimblett, was very impressed at the performances and the girls’ outstanding confidence and she was able to make lovely comments on each performer. She said that it was extremely hard to choose a winner as the standard was so high, but eventually the winner was announced as, Sarah H from year 6 , with her performance of Creative Writing by Gervase Phinn.

Runners up in each year group were as follows:

Year 6   Tabby T     – Sir’s a Secret Agent by Tony Langham

Year 5    Juno W – Dear Mum by Brian Patten

Year 4    Amena D  – Entering a castle by Brian Moses

Year3    Evie R   – Mice By Rose Fyleman

Certificates were presented to all the finalists and congratulations were in order for all the girls who gave such a wonderful evening of poetry.
