The Holt Hall

After a challenging year, Croydon High was able to start 2021 on a high with the opening of its brand-new Junior Hall: The Holt Hall.

A few years ago, the school was honoured to receive a significant, surprise donation from alumna Helen Margaret Holt. This legacy she left for Croydon High made possible their most ambitious building project – transforming the existing Junior Hall into an impressive new space, with a spacious entrance lobby and Enterprise Technology computing room. The Hall has since been renamed in honour of its benefactor. Mrs Holt’s generosity also enabled the refurbishment of other parts of the building, including significant reconfiguration throughout to ensure wheelchair-user access to all parts of the Junior School.

In June 2021, Croydon High inaugurated the Holt Hall with its first live performance in the Junior School since before the first national lockdown in March of last year. The much-anticipated Year 6 performance of What did you do in the war, Grandad? was the perfect occasion for welcoming parents into this incredible new space – complete with a beautiful new piano, courtesy of the Parent Teachers Association.

Croydon High is truly grateful to Mrs Holt for the transformative legacy she left behind her.
