Aviniya’s Art Inspiration

I was influenced by everything that had happened with Black Lives Matter and wanted to focus on an industry where people are still predominantly affected by racism. I chose football as it seemed to be everywhere from the pitch, to social media and even in the newspapers.

The text around the edge represents this as they include statements from players, tweets, racist comments and articles about a variety of players. I chose Rashford as my subject because of his campaign where he managed to help a further 1.7million school children in low income families become eligible for free school meals. Despite receiving racial abuse online he turned his narrative into something positive which I find inspirational.
