Week 7 of Guided Home Learning

Art Department

Nell has been producing some incredible artwork – here is a wonderful still life.

For their 3D Design exam, Year 7 brilliantly designed pieces of jewellery, using sweets for inspiration.

Mia in Year 12 produced an amazing clay sculpture depicting mental illness – very appropriate for Mental Health Awareness week! – for her 10-hour art exam.

Isabella’s piece was about self-perception and how the media plays a big role in the way we see ourselves. And Aleeya reflected on the ethics of reproducing the suffering of others in art in her piece, using the Syrian refugee crisis as an example.

Mrs Conrad’s biology ‘Own It’ group have ben tackling the tricky subject of protein structure.  They have had to learn loads, but have really impressed Mrs Conrad with their quick grasp of new terminology and concepts.

This week they were set the creative challenge to model some of the concepts using household objects and/or technology.  They produced an amazing variety of work using TikTok, potatoes, blu tac and sweets!
