Performance Scholars’ Breakfast

Did you know…….new figures show bumper growth in Britain’s film, TV, music and advertising industries? Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport’s sectors are now worth £268 billion. Film, TV, radio, photography, music, advertising, museums, galleries and digital creative industries are all part of this thriving sector.

On Wednesday morning the Performance Scholars met for the first time altogether; this included all the PE, Music, Drama and Art scholars from years 7 – Upper Sixth. Mrs Smith, Mrs Webb, Mrs Beck, Ms Head and Mr Suranyi want to say a big thank you to them for all their support in the fixtures, productions, choir, exhibitions, competitions and so much more, by getting together and celebrating their spirit with juice and croissants! As a group we discussed who inspires us. We asked what we can do differently in relation to the Performance Scholarship programme. The possibility of an arts & cultural week? We also looked at our own core values and what we believe the Croydon High School values to be. It was a really rich discussion and the room was full of energy. Mrs Smith has taken in all the notes made by the scholars and will provide feedback in the New Year. Watch this space!

‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens can change the world.  Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has’ (Margaret Mead, American Anthropologist).

Watch out world, here come the Performance Scholars from Croydon High School!
