Senior Maths Team Challenge

On Tuesday 26th, four Sixth Form students, Yutong, Kaviarashi, Aditi and Laveenaa travelled to Ravenswood School, Bromley to take part in the UKMT Senior Maths Team Challenge. The afternoon involved three rounds that tested their mathematical dexterity, teamwork and communication skills while competing against pupils from other schools in the region. The event began with the group round where the girls had 40 minutes to solve 10 problems between them; the girls did very well in this round and their confidence was boosted. Then it was the crossnumber where the team worked in pairs to (jointly) complete the grid using logic and deduction, and finally the shuttle round; each answer had to be accurate in order to progress to the next question. Although we did not go through to the national finals, the team enjoyed the mathematical challenges and Miss Kermani was very pleased with the girls’ performance.
