Paris Music Tour

On Friday 24th May at 6am, an excited Middle School Choir assembled in the school car park before departing for Paris.  We arrived at the Eifel Tower early afternoon in time to take a riverboat cruise on the River Seine.  We took in the sights of Paris from a unique perspective, viewing the Louvre, a charred Notre Dame Cathedral and Eifel Tower from the water.  Then it was on to our accommodation for dinner and a final rehearsal.

Breakfast the following morning was met with an air of excitement as we were heading to Disneyland, Paris for our choir performance.  We were escorted through the park to our dressing rooms.  After changing into our concert outfits we were led onto the Videopolis stage for a sound and lighting check.  The auditorium rose up to encompass the whole of the dining area; a capacity of over 2000.

Our main performance was at 12pm – peak time in the restaurants.  The Choir performed a repertoire of Disney songs, folk tunes and songs from musicals and were received very warmly by a large and appreciative audience.  The Disney staff were highly complimentary about the singing, informing us that the audience numbers increased during the show; praise indeed, given that people would usually quickly come and go from the venue after eating.  The rest of the day was spent enjoying the rides, processions and activities at Disneyland and MGM studios.

Everyone had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed all that the park had to offer on a beautiful warm summer’s day, with the occasional seasonal shower.  I would like to thank all of the staff who gave up their holidays to accompany the students and give them a memorable weekend away.
