Computer Science UK Bebras Computational Challenge

Earlier this month all of the girls in Years 7, 8 and 9 competed in the UK Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge. The competition challenges the girls to use their logical thinking skills to solve a range of fun and engaging Computer Science problems. The competition, organised by the University of Oxford, had over 200,000 entrants this year.

I am delighted to report that the school performed above the national average with many of the girls receiving certificates of merit or distinction.

The following girls achieved scores that placed them in the top 10% nationally in their age category:

Year 7 –  Ananya R, Eloane R, Lucy M, Savannah F, Malina J, Beatrice P, Isla M, Alice C,  Hannah D, Anousha N, Aashka P, Maebella P, Lucy R, Zoe L-C, Tobi O and Gisela C. (photo above)

Year 8 – Sophia J, Shenai L and Sienna M.

Year 9 –  Isobel G, Inaya I, Abigail D, Maddy C, Senaya W and Titilayo A.

These girls will participate in the invitation-only TCS Oxford Computing Challenge taking place in March 2019. The girls should be very proud of this tremendous achievement.
‘Best in School’ certificates were awarded to the following girls for achieving the highest score within their age category within the school; Sienna M (Intermediate Competition Y8 and Y9) and Beatrice P (Junior Competition Y7).

Congratulations to the girls for their outstanding efforts and results.
