Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Joseph was the first performance for many of the 96 students involved; it was their first chance to experience proper lighting, costumes and a professional approach to school productions. This is what made Joseph so great; everyone had new opportunities and new experiences to go through and to try. This was reflected in the confidence, creativity and imagination that was shown on stage during the performances.

During the process of rehearsals the cast and ensemble formed many friendships together; a significant number of these were across different year groups. By the end of the 4 months most of us had made friendships that would never have happened if it wasn’t for the environment that Mrs Webb and Mr Suryani had created for us by putting on this show.

One of the loveliest things about being involved in such a great musical is that no matter what, every girl, whether they were backstage, in lighting or performing on stage, supported each other through every single step of the 5-show run.

5 performances, 970 total audience, 22 songs, 72 hours of cast rehearsals, 16 musicians, 1 musical director, 1 director, 80 cast, 11 backstage crew, 3 technical crew, 1 lighting and sound designer, 1 incredible set, 12 boxes of costumes, 200 safety pins, 4 packs of make-up wipes, four cans of hairspray, 50m of technicolor bunting, 6 inflatable palm trees, an ARMY of supportive colleagues, parents, family and friends made the Croydon High School 2018 Drama and Music Department production of Joseph our most successful to date.
