A Wonderful Concert

On Monday 18th June we held our annual Reception and Key Stage 1 Concert featuring each class, our Key Stage 1 Choir and soloists. Reception started our performance with three songs including ‘Un Elefante’ in Spanish. Our first soloist was Tabitha in Year 2 who performed a Grade 1 piano piece, ‘When the Saints go Marching In’ from memory. We also heard solos from Zoe, Aleesha, Anushka and Miku in Year 2. Year 1 sang the old favourite ‘Daisy, Daisy’ and a lively calypso, ‘Lazy Coconut Tree’, and Year 2 sang two contrasting songs, ‘Tingalayo’ and ‘Scarborough Fair’. Year 2 have been learning the recorder this year and were able to play ‘Mary Had a Little Lamb’ very confidently; not only that, but they have composed their own recorder piece, which they called ’The Grand Recorders’ and which had its first performance in our concert. The Year 1 and 2 Choir sang ‘The Quartermaster’s Stores’ in two parts followed by ‘One Potato, Two Potato’; they rounded off the concert with a medley from ‘The Sound of Music’ once again singing in two parts… oh, and there was time for an encore as Reception joined Year 1 and 2 in ‘Wonderful World’- a wonderful way to finish our performance.
