Our recently refurbished Learning Resource Centre (LRC) aims to assist the school in encouraging the development of well balanced young women, providing an all round education, supporting staff and responding to individual needs.
The LRC is committed to:
- Promoting the efficient and effective use of information and providing training in effective information skills
- Providing facilities for access, study, manipulation, creation and synthesis of information
- Extending and developing reading for pleasure by providing a wide range of fiction and non-fiction resources
- Evaluating and monitoring the service provided to ensure that it responds in a relevant way to changing needs and demands
The LRC is staffed by the Learning Resources Manager (Karen Abrams). Sixth form helpers assist at break, and a team made up of Year 8-11 pupils assist at lunchtime.
The LRC is open daily from 9am -6pm. Pupils may stay after school to work.
The LRC has over 12,000 resources, including a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books, reference works, audio books, classical music CDs, DVDs, magazines and newspapers. There are 11 computers plus 5 laptops with access to the Internet, Intranet and online resources.
